Pathways of Promise is an organization dedicated to finding a cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), an often fatal disease that destroys the nerves controlling voluntary muscle movement, and affects crawling, walking, head and neck control, and even swallowing and breathing. SMA strikes one in every 6,000 children born in the United States, and is the leading genetic killer of children under the age of two.
